Inclusion at the playground

Welcoming environment for all children!

Inclusion is a central topic of our time and is also playing an increasingly important role in the design of playgrounds. At OBRA-Play we are committed to ensuring that playgrounds are places where inclusion is practiced. We firmly believe that every child has the right to play and have fun, regardless of their individual abilities. We therefore continually work to develop play equipment and facilities that are accessible and usable for everyone.
Inclusion in playgrounds means that all children, regardless of their abilities, can play together. This not only promotes social interaction and understanding of diversity, but also allows children with disabilities to strengthen their motor skills and self-confidence. Inclusive playgrounds are designed to be accessible and usable by children of all abilities. They offer a variety of play equipment that appeals to different senses and encourages different types of skills.

Showcase projects

Integrative sand play facility Augartenbad Graz

We are proud to present two of our latest projects in Graz that embody this principle of inclusion. In the Augartenbad we have created a sand play area that is also accessible with wheelchairs thanks to a large wooden deck. Many of the elements can be used by children with a wide range of disabilities. They offer opportunities to train motor skills and stimulate various senses

Integrative play facility Theodor-Körner-Straße Graz

We created a facility in the shape of a ship on Theodor-Körner-Straße. A highlight is an easily movable nest basket that encourages you to linger and observe. This place offers children the opportunity to play and learn in a safe and welcoming environment.

Teichweg playground project, Enns

We were able to win a competition for the Teichweg playground project with the city of Enns. An integral part of the future playground is integrative play equipment, with a U-shaped wheelchair-accessible play structure as the centerpiece. We will implement this interesting construction project in June 2024.

Inclusion in playgrounds is more than just providing barrier-free playground equipment. It's about creating an environment where all children are welcome and have the opportunity to interact and learn from each other. It's about creating playgrounds that reflect the diversity of our society and give all children the opportunity to discover and develop their abilities.
