The Kaiserau is an idyllic recreational area in Upper Styria. To make it more attractive for families, the landowner, the Admont Benedictine Abbey, engaged the spatial planning office “im-plan-tat” from Krems an der Donau to develop a concept for a themed trail. A highlight of this project is the large adventure playground next to the “Sportalm” alpine inn. From there begins a themed hiking trail with several “research stations”, where customised play equipment is placed.
The adventure playground was built in Spring of 2018 by OBRA Design together with the regional partner Holz Kraiter and offers numerous play equipment against the impressive backdrop of the mountain range Gesäuse. Some of the equipment relate to the environment in terms of theme and function. For example, an “anthill” invites smaller children to explore playfully, while a climbing wall with a mountain silhouette provides challenges for the older ones.
